PHOSPHATE RICH ORGANIC MANURE (PROM)
富磷有机肥
PROM
Phosphate Rich Organic Manure (PROM) is known as a green chemistry phosphatic fertilizer. Phosphate rich organic manure is a type of fertilizer used as an alternative to diammonium phosphate (DAP) and single super phosphate (SSP) which improve the soil texture by increasing the organic carbon phosphate content of soil and provide the organic phosphate, natural minerals such as copper, zinc, and cobalt till its generic age. Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation, Government of India has now approved Phosphate Rich Organic Manure (PROM) and included the same under Fertilizer Control Order (FCO).

about PROM
PROM (phosphate-rich organic manure), is an organic fertilizer that can be used in place of DAP, MAP, and SSP fertilizers.
The farmers may not be familiar with PROM and still use traditional fertilizers to grow their crops. Chemical fertilizers are a serious problem. They can harm soil, animals, people, and the environment. Excessive use of chemical fertilizers like Single Super Phosphate (SSP), Diammonium Phosphate (DAP), Monoammonium Phosphate/MAP, etc. The plant can only use 30% of the fertilizers. The remaining fertilizers accumulate in the soil and continue to increase the pH. This is a serious problem for agriculture.
Farmers use organic manure (a type of natural fertilizer) to give nutrients to their crops. A type of fertilizer used by farmers to replace di-ammonium and single superphosphate fertilizers is called phosphate-rich organic manure.
High-grade rock phosphate is used to produce phosphate-rich organic manure. This is mixed with plant waste or other sources, such as paddy straw and press mud.
PROM Phosphate Rich Organic Manure is a value-added product with 18% P2O5 content and 22% moisture. It is also cheaper than other phosphate replacement products like di-ammonium phosphate (DAP). Indian farmers have also adopted PROM because of its higher productivity and increased crop yield. The PROM can increase the productivity of paddy crops by as much as 29%. Organic fertilizers are in high demand in India due to the shift in attitudes of Indian farmers and consumers towards environmentally sustainable farming methods.
As an organic-based fertilizer, phosphate-rich organic manure is preferred over fertilizers like single superphosphate or di-ammonium phosphate. PROM can also be used to reduce the cost of fertilizers as well as minimize the costs associated with fertilization. PROM can be used in Indian soil conditions, from alkaline to neutral. PROM can be used with soils ranging from neutral to high in pH. These factors are all contributing to the growth of India's PROM market.
BENEFITS OF PROM -PHOSPHATE-RICH ORGANIC MAURE
It is a slow-release fertilizer.
Utilizing PROM fertilizer has resulted in high yield and high-quality production.
It supplies all nutrients to the plants.
It improves soil's physical characteristics like soil structure and porosity. It increases the availability of nutrients in soils and plants.
The soil's alkalinity is reduced by the release of CO2 during decomposition.
It transforms soil particles into aggregate porosity.
The soil's water holding capacity and infiltration are increased. Improved soil structure reduces soil erosion.
They act as buffering agents, which help to reduce soil acidity and alkalinity.
It helps to reduce climate change. It improves soil fertility and health.
It is used in the formation of proteins, amino acids, and oils.
It stimulates micro-organism activity, making soil food elements readily available to crops.
PROM will lower the cost of fertilization for farmers. It will also conserve phosphate mineral which is a non-renewable resource because of its high residual effect. This new P-fertilizer has a higher agronomic efficiency than any complex phosphatic fertilizers on the market. The Indian farmer will be pleased to know that 'PROM" is compatible with both neutral and alkaline soils. This product is a great value for money and will continue to be successful in the long term.
